This is a virtual workshop delivered on zoom
This is a Basic Intensive Workshop delivered on line. It will be delivered in 11 sessions of 22 hours contact time plus 4 hours guided learning/ self-study hour. This is a 26-hour workshop (the equivalent of 4 days) in its own right but will also serve as the first of 5 modules in the Choice Theory and Reality Therapy Certification programme for those who are interested to progress to qualification.
Participants will learn:
· What really motivates young people and how to tap into this to support change
· How to help young people not only find solutions to presenting problems, but also identify and move beyond the underlying cause(s) – rather than continually deal with emotional/behavioural symptoms
· An approach that is cognitively behavioural in nature but with an action-led and holistic focus, that is informed by the Choice Theory Psychology, and can be readily integrated with many other approaches
· How to help young people evaluate their own behaviour and overall direction, and make more effective choices on a ‘want to’ basis
The Advanced Workshop provides participants with a platform from which they can really ‘take off’ with regards to deepening their understanding of Choice Theory, its personal/self application, and to enhancing their skill in using Reality Therapy and Lead Management, be it in counselling, coaching or leading. More time is given to skills practice, personal applications, self evaluation and experiential activities.
Workshop leader – John Brickell is a senior faculty member of William Glasser International & WGI-UK, who has taught CT/RT in many countries around the world as well as throughout the UK.

Theme for the day: Finding new ways to belong, resisting control, experimenting with fun, finding your wings, and living life to the full. The focus of the day will be on putting Choice Theory and Reality Therapy into practice with young people. Why young people need a different approach and how best to create it using Choice Theory Psychology.
We will be joined by Graham Helm and Sarah Lindley-Parker. Graham works for the UK-wide charity Street Games. He uses Choice Theory and the power of sport to create positive change in the lives of disadvantaged young people, including the reduction of youth violence. Sarah works as a counsellor in West Suffolk. She has a background in youth work and with Victim Support. She is particularly skilled in working with teenagers, supporting them to start seeing their own potential and to take control of their lives.
If this event were to be postponed due to Government recommendations around Covid-19, then you will be able to get a full refund or keep it to reserve your place on the re-scheduled date.
